A Home Away From Home
Walnut Tree Farm, Kythira
About Us
A peaceful rural retreat with outstanding views – a very private oasis
Kythera is a very special, unique and unspoilt island on the very southern tip of the Peloponnese. It is known as the birthplace of Venus and is blessed with numerous archaeological sites. Kythera is also fortunate to have a variety of beaches white everything from white sand to rounded pebbles. Some have full facilities with bars and beach lounges to more remote smaller ones preferred by lovers and naturists. The island is served by regular flights from Athens and ferry services from Piraeus, Neapoli, Gytheo and Crete.
We are ideally placed for a fuss free escape whoever you are. Everyone get the same one-to-one personal service!
At Walnut Tree Farm, you will be in good hands with “superhosts” Stuart and Mark. With their extensive experience in hospitality and tourism, they are dedicated to providing you with an unforgettable stay.

Location & Nearby Attractions
Unlike many of the more popular Greek islands Kythera is refreshingly quiet and relaxed and touted as ‘the perfect place to escape‘. But that doesn’t mean there is nothing to do! Check these out…
Restaurants
Kythera has many restaurants to choose from. Many feature local produce and specialties. Our favourites include Platanos, Skandeia, Taverna Filio, Psomoladea, Familia, Pierros, Toxoti and Kaleris. You can find a comprehensive list here.
Sight Seeing
There are many archaeological sites, natural wonders, religious sites, beaches and walking tracks to explore. Check out Trip Advisor or local tour operator Drakakis Tours.
Beaches
Kythera is home to over 20 beaches – some easy to find, others well hidden. Many have facilities like snack bars and beach lounges, others more ‘au natural’ like some of the bathers. There is something for everyone!
Bars & Lounges
There are many great bars and lounges around the island. Among our favourites are Fox Anglais, Koukos, Arachtopoleio and il Mercato Bar.
Biking & Hiking
Kythera has countless kilometres of walking tracks that all well marked and easy to master. Find out more at Kythera Trails. Kythera can be wonderfully explored on the two wheels of a mountain bike and is a popular new form of outdoor activity. A 182 kilometre network of mountain cycling routes is being developed on Kythera by the Kytherian Foundation for Culture & Development (ΚΙΠΑ). Bike hire and information is available here.
